Located on beautiful Santorini, the Koutsoyannopoulos Wine Museum has everything a visitor would want to know about winemaking in one of the most unique places on earth. With the Koutsoyannopoulos family knowledge and historical exhibits, guests will get a glimpse of what life was like as a winemaker here. This one of a kind museum happens to be nestled in a cave and because of its unique position this natural labyrinth is eight meters below ground and 300 meters long. It took our family twenty one years of hard work, patience, and perseverance to complete the wine museum in this remarkable location, but it was all worth it.
Our family created the museum to share our passion and love for tradition and great wine-making. As fourth-generation wine-makers, we are proud to continue producing high-quality wines with methods passed down through decades of dedicated vinting. Throughout the museum, there are many representations of what life was like for vine-growers dating all the way back to the 1600’s. While on the tour, visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the history of wine through an automatic audio guide available in 14 languages or a guidebook (available in 22 languages). Guests will see the stages of the winemaking process including ploughing in the vineyards, and then harvesting, stomping , and weighing of the grapes. They will also learn about the range of machinery necessary to make wine all the way through to what is used today.
Some of our exhibits include rare machinery and tools that will transport visitors back to a different time. This valuable equipment was used by past generations of Koutsoyannopoulos wine makers who devoted their lives to producing wine of the highest quality. At the end of the tour, we invite guests to try four of our best wines made in our very own winery and savor each flavor in our specially made wine-tasting area with an ambiance to enhance the experience. The Cycladic culture along with the process and hardships of winemaking continue to captivate thousands of visitors each year. We aim to share our passion for good wine and see that wine-making tradition continues for generations to come. Our family would be honored to welcome all guests and their loved ones to enjoy our Wine Museum and learn all about winemaking on Santorini. Reserve a ticket today!
